WHAT’S INSIDE

This issue is chock full of festivities, recipes, and, of course, some wonderful designs. Discover our Platinum Jubilee-inspired recipes, learn how to throw a street party, or plant a tree to join in the commemoration of the special event, no matter where you are. If you are lucky enough to be headed to England to celebrate in person, be sure to check out our list of top day trips to take from London.

A ROYAL AFFAIR

The Platinum Jubilee is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Seventy years of reign is an accomplishment that few other figures in world history have achieved. Our coverage of the Platinum Jubilee includes a summary of the occasion and its historical importance. Be sure to see the video documentary on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Then, learn how to see some of the many events live. Check our events map for more information, inspirational music, and links. If you can’t make it to London, you can still take part in the celebration. We’ll show you how you can participate near or far.

ON THE TABLE

Drawing on the buzz around the upcoming events, we were inspired to create three new recipes for you to try this season. First, we have the British Burrito. This street food dish is a twist on a classic, Yorkshire Pudding and Roast Beef. We’ve taken the best of that dish and created an “on the go” version for your street parties or picnics.

Next, on the sweet side, we offer you our Coronation Fruit Tart with Whipped Mascarpone Cream. We made the dessert to honor the occasion and the Platinum Pudding contest that is in progress. The winner of the contest will have their recipe published for the public. The recipe will also be prepared and served at the official Platinum Jubilee Lunch. However, you don’t have to wait until June to make our recipe. It is fruity and creamy and easy to make.

Lastly, to wash it all down we have a special cocktail for you. Keeping in the spirit of our inspiration for this issue, we used Pimm’s No.1 Cup to create an herbaceous cocktail with a sweet and sour kick. Our Royal Thyme cocktail blends Pimm’s with thyme, grapefruit, and raspberry for a unique and refreshing drink.

PARTY TIME

The entertaining section of the spring 2022 edition of Seasonal Living Magazine focuses on the street party. During the Platinum Jubilee, the people of the United Kingdom will be celebrating in their way, by throwing street parties in the queen’s honor. People around the world are planning their own parties with a Platinum Jubilee theme. You can, too. We have provided you with the necessary steps and a quick checklist to make sure nothing is forgotten.

PLANTING THE FUTURE

planting a tree

As part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, people are encouraged to plant a tree for the Jubilee. Of course, if you are stateside, we also have Arbor Day on April 29th. This might be just the time to do your part to “green up” the planet a little. Your contribution will help the environment and potentially last for generations. That is a wonderful way to mark a historic world event. See the article on how to plant a tree to get all the information you need.

DESIGN DISCOVERY

Our British-inspired edition continues with London-based designer, Rob Roncarati. See his transformation of a mostly unusable attic, loft space into a family-friendly, multi-purpose living area. Prepared to be “wow-ed” by his clever approach to space and materials. His award-winning space is our design feature for this issue and it is well-deserved.

THE WINNER’S CIRCLE

The first-ever Seasonal Living Design Challenge concluded earlier this year. The winners and their designs are highlighted in this issue. The first-place winner receives a VIP trip to the Spring ’22 High Point Furniture Market. To honor the winners will be hosting a special event in our High Point showroom, joined by the co-producer for the challenge, Jenna Gaidusek, founder of eDesign Tribe. Be sure to see the winners and learn about their designs and inspiration in this section of the magazine dedicated to them.
