The Fall 2019 edition of Seasonal Living Magazine is now available live on our website! We are so excited to bring you this 7th edition of Seasonal Living Magazine, all about Travel. Food + Recipes. Entertaining. Design.
Our travel destination in this issue is Paris, the magical *City of Lights*, founded in approximately 259 BC by the Parisii, a Celtic tribe that settled on the banks of the Seine. In 52 BC, the fishermen village was conquered by the Romans, and renamed Lutetia. It wasn’t until the 4th century that the city changed its name to Paris, the city now beloved and renowned around the world for its devotion to charm, beauty and elegance.
Paris is especially splendid in the fall, when all the leaves of the ancient plane trees begin to shimmer in all their copper and gold glory.
In this issue’s *Letter From The Editor* by Seasonal Living founder and CEO, Gary Pettitt, who grew up in London and Paris, you will read about why he thinks it’s the most magical time of the year to visit. Click here if you’d like to read why, right now.
FEATURED DESIGNER: MARY DOUGLAS DRYSDALE
We are especially pleased to be featuring the work of internationally renowned interior designer, Washington DC based Mary Douglas Drysdale, on the cover of this Fall 2019 issue of Seasonal Living Magazine.
Paris was a seminal influence on Mary Douglas Drysdale during her formative years as an interior designer, and we hope you enjoy Mary’s thoughts regarding that influence, shared with you in this issue. To read them now, please click here.
One image of Mary’s work – not in our magazine – is below, and we hope it will whet your appetite to want to see more! Mary is a master at mixing modern art and artisanal crafts with traditional French architectural elements to create sublime moments of visual beauty. The chest in the image below is original from Maison Jansen, the famous French atelier, founded in 1801 by Jean-Henri Jansen.
An interesting aside: Maison Jansen was considered the first global design house, and in the 1920’s Monsieur Jansen partnered with Stephane Boudin where they began manufacturing furniture. They went on to produce custom furniture and provide design services for the royal families of several countries and the U.S. White House during the administration of John F. Kennedy.
Mary Douglas Drysdale’s interior design work has been featured on the cover of more national interior design magazines than any other interior designer in history, and we are honored to have her Parisian influenced work now gracing the cover of Seasonal Living Magazine, too.
FEATURED GUEST CONTRIBUTOR: MARIA STEPPERFENNE
Our guest contributor for this issue, kitchen designer Maria Stepperfenne, is a past President of the National Kitchen and Bath Association who recently spent two weeks in Paris at the Maison et Objet tradeshow and Paris Design Week this fall.
Maria distilled the trends she spotted at Maison Objet down to five, and her article, featuring her finds, is one you won’t want to miss!
Here’s a sneak peek at one of the pages inside our magazine, featuring our *SENZA* library/dining table from our PERPETUAL | Metal Collection that we think would serve as the perfect perch for the classical blue bust shown above. What do you think?
It’s available in custom sizes, in both ivory and slate grey lightweight concrete, and if you’re coming to #HPMKT, we invite you to feel the smooth, velvety *Venetian plaster* like surface of this table for yourself in our InterHall (IH-306) showroom – the result of being waxed by hand by the artisans who make this collection.
